Professional Engineer

Callon Dietz has an exciting new role for a Professional Engineer for our newly formed Subsurface Utility Engineering division to work with our team on project work in Ontario.

OPPORTUNITY

Reporting to SUE Lead will be responsible for helping develop the new SUE division and provide oversight to SUE investigations completed across Ontario. Train/develop/supervise utility locate staff, as well as the management of multiple contracted projects including delivery, deliverables, timelines, communications, costs and quality.

RESPONSIBILITY

Key position responsibilities includes, but is not limited to:

  • Oversee and stamp the preparation of final reports and drawings for client delivery including summarizing the analyses, approving the report and responding to client questions and queries
  • Oversee and review research component to assure all required information is obtained for each project
  • Oversee and review data capture and field investigation for each project
  • Assist with cost estimate and quoting for work
  • Assist to train, develop and supervise utility locate staff
  • Ensure all projects are appropriately scheduled and resourced for success
  • Communicate with clients at project commencement and as required throughout project
  • Travel to project sites to review progress and maintain a hands-on approach, and as required.
  • Review project audits for overall quality control
  • Ensure timely resolution of project issues

Other duties/responsibilities as required

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED 

  • P. Eng. designation and ability to obtain a Certificate of Authorization for Ontario
  • In depth knowledge of utility locates and SUE (10 years’ experience in SUE or related fields such as construction/civil preferred). Knowledge to include: locate SUE using geophysical designating equipment, data collection, and troubleshoot effectively with engineer
  • Supervisory experience (minimum 5 years preferred)
  • Strong computer skills required for use of application software, report preparation and data analysis

NOT REQUIRED (Considered an Asset): 

  • Marketing SUE services to clients
